Hawkins Kennedy Test
SAIS (Supraspinatus)
Patient seated. Arm flexed at 90. elbow bent at 90 towards them. Therapist puts arm under elbow crease on to opposite shoulder and internally rotates
Empty can test
Supraspinatus SAIS
Arms elevated, fully IR, resist any more flexion.
Drop arm test
Supra tear
Bring patient arm into 90 degrees abduction passively, then release support.
Yergansons Test
Biceps pathology/tendinitis
Patient standing, flex arm to 90 degrees, fully pronate, and then resist patient supination whilst palpating bicipital groove.
Hornblowers sign
Infra/teres Minor Tear or weakness
Patient seated, abduct arm to 90 degrees, flex elbow to 90, externally rotate to 45 degrees, then place hand over arm to start resistance on arm.
