Shoulder Region Flashcards
What causes painful arc syndrome?
Inflamed subacromial bursa or rotator cuff tendons becoming impinged between acromion and head of humerus.
In which direction is the humerus most likely to disclocate?
Anteriorly, due to relative lack of support compared to post and superior
Name the ligaments of the shoulder joint
Extra-capsular: coraco-acromial, coraco-humeral, transverse humeral. Intra-capsular: superior, middle, inferior gleno-humeral ligaments (on anterior surface)
Where do the three gleno-humeral ligaments originate and insert?
Origin: glenoid labrum. Insert: anatomical neck of humerus.
What is the role of the shoulder joint ligaments?
Reinforce capsule and stabilise the joint
What is the innervation of the rotator cuff muscles?
Suprascapular
What degree is painful arc syndrome?
50-130 degrees
