Why is the foot able to plantarflex more than dorsiflex?
A
Talus is wedge-shaped and so is wider anteriorly. TF it wedges between the two malleoli upon dorsiflexion

What limits dorsiflexion?
A
Tension in the medial and lateral ligaments adn the calcaneal tendon will pull on the calcaneus limiting movement.

A
Anterior and posterior tibial arteries and branches of fibular arteries
