Q

Impingement syndrome/ RC tendinitis

A

Irritation of structures above shoulder joint/ under acromion
Due to repeated compression between greater tuberosity and acromion process. Can lead to RC degeneration and tears

Q

Signs of rotator cuff tear

A

Age or Trauma; history of impingement
Drop Arm Test- passively lift the arm, ask to hold (NEGATIVE IT PT CAN HOLD UP)
Belly press- test for subscapularis tear- pt pushes againt np resistance
Lift off test behind the back test against np resistance- test for subscapularis tear

Q

How to preform yeargason test?

A

Yeargason- palpate bicepital groove. Place forearm in pronation and elbow bent. Try to supinate the fa while resisting the biceps. Think of a corkscrew motion during opening a bottle of wine- this is the full action of the bicep. You are testing the full action.

Q

Signs of Bicipital Tendinitis

A
Pain with use
Throwing athletes- arm swing athletes
Pain more anteriorly
Positive Speeds
Positive Yergason
Possible painful arc and noc ischemia
Usually can reproduce pain when palpating the bicipital groove

Q

Name tests for RC Tendinits/ Impingement

A

Painful arc – between 65-120 is painful.
+ Apley Scratch- opposite shldr blade, opp inf angle scap.- doing this reproduces the pain
+ Neer- passive flxn of the shoulder with the scap stabilized and FA in pronation
+ Hawkins- passively flex the shoulder to 90, bend elbow, internally rotate
Empty can- hold “soda can” out, then turn it over to dump out the soda.

Q

sign for Biceps Tendon Rupture

A

***known as the ‘Popeye’ sign.
