A
We do NOT advise bed rest for patients with acute low back pain. Activity modification should generally be minimal, with patients returning to activities of daily living and work as soon as possible.

what is the goal for drug tx for back pain
A
The goal of drug therapy is short-term symptomatic relief to maximize patient comfort. Patients who do not improve after four weeks of pharmacotherapy should be reassessed.
