Middle Trapezius
PA: SP T1-6 and Supraspinous ligament
DA: Medial border acromion and superior lip of spine of scapula
INN: -Motor = Accessory N. (CNXI)
-Sensory = Branches from VR C3,4
Actions: OC = Scapular retraction and ER
Lower Trapezius
PA: SP T7-12 and Supraspinous ligaments
DA: Triangular area medial to base of spine of scapula
INN: -Motor = Accessory N. (CNXI)
-Sensory = Branches from VR C3,4
Actions: OC= Scapular upward rotation and downward slide
Triceps
PA: -Long Head = Scapula at infraglenoid tubercle, blends w/ GH capsule
- Lateral Head = Narrow oblique area on post surface of humerus, superior to spiral line and lateral inter muscular septum
- Medial Head = Large area on post surface on humerus, inferior to spiral line and medial inter muscular septum
DA: By common tendon to olecranon process on ulna
INN: Radial (C6,7,8)
Actions: -All Heads = Extend the elbow
-Long Head = Also adducts the humerus
Rhomboid Major
PA: SP T2-5
DA: Medial Border of scapula between root of spine and inferior border
INN: Dorsal scapular N. (C4,5)
Actions: -Scapular retraction, ER & downward rotation
-Assists w/ upward slide
Rhomboid Minor
PA: SP C7-T1 & lower ligamentum nuchae
DA: Medial border of scapula at level of root of spine
INN: Dorsal Scapular N. (C4,5)
Actions: -Scapular retraction, ER, & downward rotation
-Assists w/ upper slide
Biceps Brachii
PA: -Long Head = Scapula at supraglenoid tubercle & to glenoid labrum
-Short Head = Apex of Coracoid process (not associated with GHJ)
DA: By flat tendon to radial tuberosity, by bicipital aponeurosis which blends w/ antebrachial fascia
INN: musculocutaneous N. (C5,6)
Actions: -Flexes the elbow and humerus
-Primary supinator of the forearm
Coracobrachialis
PA: Apex of coracoid process
DA: Humerus midway along medial border
INN: Musculocutaneous (C5,6,7)
Actions: -Flex the Humerus
-Assists w/ Horizontal adduction
Brachialis
PA: Anterior surface of humerus along distal 1/2
DA: Ulnar Tuberosity & an impression on the coronoid process of ulna
INN: -Musculocutaneous (C5,6)
-Radial C7
Actions: Primary flexor of the elbow
Subscapularis
PA: -Medial 2/3 subscapular fossa & the adjoining fascia
DA: Lesser tubercle of humerus & blends w/ GH capsule
INN: Upper & Lower sub scapular N. (C5,6)
Actions: -IR of humerus
-Stabilizes the GH joint
Teres Minor
PA: Scapula along superior 2/3 lateral border & posterior surface of adjoining fascia
DA: Greater tubercle of humerus on inferior facet & blends w/ GH fibrous capsule
INN: Axillary C5,6
Actions: -ER of humerus
-Stabilizes the GHJ
Teres Major
PA: Scapula along inferior 1/3 of lateral border & posterior surface of adjoining fascia
DA: Humerus along medial border of bicipital groove
INN: Lower subscapular N. (C5,6,7)
Actions: Extension & IR of humerus
Infraspinatus
PA: Medial 2/3 infraspinous fossa & infraspinatus fascia
DA: Greater tubercle of humerus on middle facet & blends w/ GH fibrous capsule
INN: Suprascapular (C5,6)
Actions: -ER of humerus
-Stabilizes the GHJ
Supraspinatus
PA: Medial 2/3 Supraspinous fossa & supraspinous fascia
DA: Greater tubercle of humerus on Superior Facet & blends w/ GH fibrous capsule
INN: Suprascapular (C5,6)
Actions: -Abducts the humerus
- Stabilizes the GHJ
- Prevents downward translation of humerus
Serratus Anterior
PA: Upper 8 ribs along exterior surfaces & superior borders; to fascia of adjoining intercostal muscles
DA: scapula along medial border of Ant(volar) surface
INN: long thoracic N. (C5,6,7)
Actions: -Scapular upward rotation and protraction
-Prevents scapular winging
Deltoid
PA: -Anterior Head = Anterior 1/3 of clavicle along ant border & superior surface
- Middle Head = Lateral acromion along superior surface
- Posterior Head = Spine of scapula along inferior lip
DA: Deltoid tuberosity of Humerus
INN: Axillary N. C5,6
Actions: - Anterior Head = Flexion and IR of humerus
- Middle Head = Abducts Humerus
- Posterior Head = Extends and ER humerus
