Shoulder and Arm Flashcards
[Clavice] Sternal end
end towards the sternum.
[Clavice] Sternoclavicular joint (SC)
Articulation between the sternal end of the clavicle and the sternum. (joint that keeps your arm on)
[Clavice] Acrominal end
raised bump at the end of the clavicle (bumps go down)
[Clavice] Acromioclavicular joint (AC)
small articulation between the acromion of the scapula and the acromial end of the clavicle. (diving board and bump)
[Clavice] Conoid tubercle
a bony prominence on the inferior surface of the lateral third of the clavicle.
[Clavice] Trapeziod line
inferior surface of lateral end of the clavicle: attachment site for the trapezoid ligament
Clavicle
lies horiziontally across the chest and has a gentle āSā shape.
Attachment site for a number of muscles.
the lateral end in relatively flat and often rises slightly higher that the acromion.
The medial end is round and articulates with the sternum.
Labrum
fibrocartilage that runs around the cavity of the scapula (wingbone) in which the head of the humerus (the bone in the upper arm) fits.
Deltoid - Actions
All Fibers: ABDUCT the shoulder
Anterior Fibers: Flex the shoulder (G/H joint)
Horizontally ADDUCT the shoulder (G/H) joint)
Posterior fibers: EXTEND the shoulder (G/H joint)
Laterally ROTATE the shoulder (G/H joint)
Horizontally ABDUCT the shoulder (G/H joint)
Deltoid - Origin
Lateral 1/3 of calvicle, acromion and spine of the scapula
Deltoid - Innervation
Deltoid tuberosity
Deltoid - Nerve
Axillary
Trapezius- Origin
External occipital protuberance, medial portion of superior nuchal line of the occiput, ligamentum nuchae and spinus processes of C-7 to T-12
Trapezius- Action
Upper fibers: Bilaterally- Extend the head and neck
Unilaterally - Laterally flex the Head and neck to the opposite side
Elevate the scapula (scapulothoracic joint)
Upwardly rotate the scapula (S/C joint)
Middle fibers: Adduct the scapula (S/T joint)
Stabilize the scapula (S/T joint)
Trapezius- Intervation
Lateral 1/3 of the clavicle, acromion and spine of the scapula
