Q

Name some muscles that will affect the movement of the shoulder

A

Flexors== pectoralis major, deltoid (anterior fibres) , biceps brachii (long head), coracobrachialis

Extensors== latissimus dorsi, teres minor, pectoralis major, deltoid posterior fibres and triceps long head.

Abductors = supraspinatus , deltoid (Middle fibres)

Adducttors == coracobrachialis, pectoralis major, latissimus dorsi, teres major

Medial rotators= subscapularis, teres major, latissimus dorsi, pectoralis major, deltoid (anterior fibres)

Lateral rotators = teres minor, infraspinstus deltoid (posterior)

Q

What is the origin and insertion of the biceps ??

A

The biceps have two heads

The long head orignates at the supraglenoid of the scapula
The short head orignates at the coracoid process

The long head inserts onto the radial tuberosity and the short head inserts onto the radial tuberosity.

Q

what are the symptoms of a frozen shoulder ?

A

Age (50 years old), Stiff, active range of motion and passive range of motion. External rotation is the biggest most restricted. TREATMENT= pain dominant steroid injection or stiffness stretches.

16
Q

What are the symptoms of rotator cuff related shoulder pain? (Group together)

A

Pain location (army band) overload/ injury/ mechanical resisted tests. Treatment = progress strength may use some resistance bands

17
Q

What are the symptoms of shoulder dislocation?

A

Traumatic Vs Atraumatic, apprehension and safe zone. Treatment = safe zone may be consultant surgeon is asking them to avoid abduction and external ro , could try progress muscle strength

18
Q

What are the symptoms of a proximal humeral fracture?

A

Orthopaedic instructions. sling vs passive vs active assisted vs active. Follow orthopaedic instructions and follow their protocol.

19
Q

Symptoms of a rotator cuff tear?

A

More likely older, trauma, trauma, active vs passive vs resisted tests. Treatment = anterior deltoid programme
