What is a long shot without humans in called?
An empty long shot
What does a long shot represent?
Freedom, no intensity
What can be seen in a medium/mid shot?
Only the top half/ waist up of a person can be seen & facial expressions
What is the difference between a long shot and a mid shot?
Fewer people fit into it
What can be seen in close ups?
Whole face, sometimes with top of head chopped off
What is the effect of a close up?
Added emotional content & intensity as you aren’t distracted by the background
What can be seen in an extreme long shot?
Larger scale setting, and many people
What can be seen in an extreme close up?
Usually eyes, part of a human face
What is the effect of an extreme close up?
Audience focus is at maximum and shows emotion
What can be seen in a medium long shot?
More than the waist up is a body, but not the whole body
What is visible in a medium close shot?
Head & shoulders
What is a canted shot?
Camera held at an angle so that horizontals & verticles lean
What is the effect of a canted shot?
Makes audience feel uneasy/ vulnerable
What can be seen from a high angle shot?
Birdseye view, above the subject looking down
What is the effect of a high angle shot?
Characters appear smaller & therefore more vulnerable
What can be seen in a long angle shot?
Camera looks up at the actor
What is the effect of a low angle shot?
Makes the character appear bigger and more powerful
What can be seen in an over the shoulder shot?
Camera filming over someone’s shoulder
What is the effect of an over the shoulder shot?
Keeps both characters in shot but also allows audience focus on one character more than the other
What is shot reverse shot?
Alternating sequence of over the shoulder shot… switching from one persons shoulder to another
Where can a crane shot move?
Everywhere/ anywhere and can do all shots
