A

Gitlow v. New York (1925) was crucial to the issue of speech rights because it was one of the first cases that began to limit how “free” American speech could be. Based on the decision made as a result of this case, the government could limit the speech of the people if the content was encouraging or supporting revolutionary action

Schenck v. Dennis v. United States (1951) further limited speech

While the other two cases restricted speech based on things that had been said that could directly cause harm to other or the government, this final case set the precedent that even an insinuation of dangerous action could be considered a crime.

Q

What is Temporary Assistance to Needy Families (TANF)?

A

Temporary Assistance to Needy Families (TANF) supplements “aid to families with Dependent Children as the program for public assistance to needy families, TANF requires people on welfare to find work within two years and sets a lifetime maximum of five years” .
TANF benefits vary from state to state by the amount of money the state offers the people.
Besides the amount of benefits you receive from states another difference the programs have are the roles of social workers who are assigned to help you move forwards. Sometimes government programs hinder the person by saying if they make a certain amount of money they can no longer receive the benefit so people are consistently weighing pro and cons of earning money through a job. Some states do a better job in having social workers help people make transitions from depending on welfare to being able to independent.
