vertical integration- one company buys all the stages of production
Horizontal integration- when one company controls one stage of production
Summarize 2 strikes
Great Railroad Strike 1877
started in West Vg because of 10% wage cuts by the Baltimore and Ohio Railroad company. All workers at the Baltimore and Ohio railroad went on strike. Over half the railroads shut down. over 100 died, 1000 in jail.
Haymarket Riot wanted higher pay, someone threw a bomb and 8 died. 7 were police, and 6 others died. Knights of labor decrease in influence and unions are associated with violence
What’s the difference between robber barons and captains of industry?
Robber barons- unfair raise of price, bad working conditions, destroyed other businesses
captains of industry- business leaders of industry, through success

New- From southern and eastern Europe
