*SHOCK* Flashcards
Shock:
inadequate perfusion
Septic shock can do what?
releases masssive histamine release, lowering BP.
Compensated Shock?
increased Beta1, Alpha 1
increased depth and rate or respiration
tachycardia, tachypnea, pale, cool, moist, normotension.
relative hypovolemia? the 4 shocks
container problem ( vasodilation)
absolute hypovolemia
Volume ( Hemmorage, metabolic)
cardiogenic and obstructive shock?
pump problem.
stage 1 of hypovolemic shock?
Mild
<15% blood loss
minimal vital changes and blood loss
stage 2 of hypovolemic shock
moderate
20-25% blood loss
pulse and resp increased
thirst and pallor present
stage 3 hypovolmeic shock
seevere
30-35% blood loss
mechanisms failing
** all signs of shock possible**
stage 4 hypovolemic shock
Catastropic
>40% blood loss
no palpable pulses
Chemoreceptors?
changes in chemical levels
ex: c02,O2, glucose and acid & base balance
Baroreceptors?
sense decrease in BP
where are baroreceptors located?
carotid and aortic arch.
hypovolemic shock signs and symptoms? compensated.
tachycardia
normotension
cardiogenic sock?
irregular pulses
decompensated cardiogenic shock?
Bradypnea & apnea
Pediatrics patients can become shocky with how much fluid loss?
> 100ml of blood or fluid loss
