inadequate tissue perfusion
what are the 3 main categories of shock
hypovol, cardiogenic (heart/pump failure), vasodilation
What can cause vasodilation problems?
anaphylaxis, neurogenic, sepsis
What is the definition of hypotension
SBP <90 or 20 below norm
what are the pitfalls of the definition of hypotension
may not know patients normal bp, young and previously fit, elderly, drugs
What happens in hypovol shock
inadequate vol, low co, svr and tachycardia as comp
what appears clinically in hypovol shock
cold, clammy, tachy, inc crt, empty veins
What happens in hf shock
fall in co, inc svr and tachy as comp
what appears clinically in hf shock
cold, clammy, tachy, inc crt, raised jvp
What appears clinically in vasodilation shock
warm, dry, tachy, low crt, bounding pulse
