low oxygen –> can’t produce ATP –> anaeorbic respiration –> pyruvate –> lactic acid build up

lethargy
pale mm (or very red if distributive)
poor pulses
high (dogs) or low HR (cats)
collapse
cold extremities
bloated abdomen (obstructive)
increased lactate
metabolic acidosis
