Challenging the older generations and their views on women. Her right to know shows how she is maturing as she is now aware of what’s going on and isn’t protected from it from the gender stereotypes

Here she is awakening to the fact that it isn’t the inspector making these things happen. It is their bad behaviour. Here she is taking responsibility and wants her family to do so to which presents her as remorseful.

She is highlighting and condemning her parents deflection and rejection of social responsibility and is ridiculing them. This captures her transformation from childish to enlightened about the flaws in society.

This presents Shiela as fully transformed as she is now criticising her family and their rejection of responsibility. She is frightened which emphasises how she now feels her parents are not taking enough responsibility

Here she is outlining how her family shouldn’t forget the lessons they have learned but instead they should use it to change the future. This is what preiestley believes must be done to fix society and he uses Shiela as a vehicle to do so by presenting her as proactive wanting change.
