  • There is significant use of sibilance in the poem, bringing a softening sound

  • Iambic pentameter reinforces the above point as well as showing her perfection and control
  • However, it uses enjambment suggesting the narrator is overwhelmed by the woman’s beauty
  • Poem is split into 3 stanzas, progressing from her physical appearance to her personality. However, his proof for her moral personality is her beauty so…
  • Present tense shows that her beauty is eternal and everlasting and also shows that this is real and not a rose-tinted memory
