1.3 - Describe the legislative requirements that must be adhered to when wet shaving a client.
General sanitation and safety precautions of shaving
- Always sanitize tools BEFORE and AFTER using
- Once the client is seated, adjust and lock the chair in place
- Always observe hair growth pattern
- Heavy beard growth requires more care
- Lather against the grain to place hair
- Hand that’s not shaving use it to
stretch the skin - Any infections don’t shave

2.2 - Describe the principles of holding and using a cut throat razor.
(Four standard shaving positions and strokes)
The correct angle of cutting the beard worth a straight razor is called the cutting stroke.
To achieve the best cutting stroke, the razor must glide over the surface at an angle with the grain of the hair.
It should be drawn in a flat movement with the point of razor in the lead
Shaving brush
Remove hair brush work brush cleaner. Wash in warm soapy water. Dip into sterilizing antiseptic disinfectant solution for 15 mins.
Dry on a paper towel
Stand on end until dry sore in a UVC - ultraviolet cabinet
Razor - cleaning
Remove blade in sharps bin
Remove and hair from cut throat and dip in sterilizing solution
Always put a new blade in front of client.
Do not cut anyone with skin disease
Prep for shave
- Steam face that using hot towels to cleanse soon.. also softens skins and provides lubrication
- Lather the face to soften hair and gold upright position

- Seat client
- Ask client loosen collar, lay cape over the clothes

- Apply after shave or moisturizer
- Apply cold or warm towel
- Apply toner or astringent
- Use towel and dry face (pat dry)
- Apply talcolm powder (soothes skin)
- Raise chair slowly
- Wipe all loose hair, lather powder

- Moisturizer or aftershave (prevents and treats dry skin) protects

2ND time over shave follows a regular shave to get rid of patches or uneven spots.

Freehand position and stroke
Take a razor in the right hand. Hold the handle of the razor between the third and fourth fingers, with the top of thy small finger resting in the tang of the razor.
