- Split the same into two sections (a+b)
- Work out the area of each section
- Add both sections together

- What a 3D shape looks like when unfolded
- Add the sides together
What is the surface area?
The total area of the surface of a three - dimensional object
How do you find the surface area of a cuboid?
Find the area of the front, sides, top and bottom
How do you find the surface area of a triangle?
- Find the area of the base, back and the sloped side
- Add the areas together
How do you find the surface area of “L” shaped prisms?
- work out the front, back, top, bottom, side and the ledges
- add all the areas together

What is the volume of a cuboid?
Length x width x height
What is the volume of a triangular prism?
Areas of cross section x depth
Example:
½ x 4 x 3 x 6
= 6 x 6
= 36 cm³

Angle/360 x area of whole circle
How do you find the volume of a cylinder?
πr² x length / depth / height
How do you find the surface area of a cylinder?
- Find the area of the top and the base (πr²)
- Find the area of the side (π x diameter)
- Total surface area = πd x h
