How do you multiply indicies?

A
  • write out the number of indexes and add them together
    OR
  • add the indexes together

Example:
2⁴ x 2³

2 x 2 x 2 x 2 x 2 x 2 x 2 = 2⁷

How do you divide indicies?

A
  • Write out the indexes and divide then cross out all the bottom row, the ones you crossed out cross on the top
    OR
  • subtract the indexes

Example:
2⁷ ÷ 2³

2 x 2 x 2 x 2 x 2 x 2 x 2

2 x 2 x 2
