Shaft Alignment Flashcards
What are the two types of Misalignment?
Offset and angular
What are the four components?
Vertical angular misalignment ) vertical offset misalignment, horizontal angular misalignment, horizontal offset misalignment.
What is soft foot?
Means any foot that is solidly testing on the base
What is runout?
It occurs when either the periphery of a shaft or coupling is not concentric fits axis or it the face of the shaft or coupling is not perpendicular with the axis of rotation.
What is end float?
When the shaft moves axially
When does endfloat cause?
Face readings to be unreliable
Why would a machine with proper alignment still vibrate.
Runout
What does DBS stand for?
Dial Bar sag
What does DBS affect?
Vertical rim readings
Order of alignment
Angular to offset/ vertical to horizontal
Why do rim and face?
Fastest, only need one dial,
What does TPS stand for?
Total position sensing (going to zero)
What does TIR stand for?
Total indicator reading
What is the most common type of misalignment?
Combination
T/f. Misalignment reduces the load on bearings.
False
