Q

What does CPR 14 set out?

A

The court has a duty, under CPR 1.4, to further the overriding objective by actively managing cases. This means dealing with cases:

  • justly and at proportionate cost;
  • within a reasonable time; and
  • by proportionate use of court and party resources

In doing so, the court must consider the complexity of the issues under consideration as well as the parties’ needs.
