SG 2.2 Bio Flashcards
How is population growth is determined from birth, death, immigration, and emigration
All of those change the population and it changes who/what can reproduce
Where population growth is highest in exponential and logistic growth
Exponential is when a population has no limits and can grow infinitely. Logistic growth will hit a carrying capacity and become a flat line.
What the variables N, N0, r, t, K, dN/dt stand for in the growth models
Population growth rate (N) over time (t). The population growth rate is (dN/dt). d means change. K represents the carrying capacity, and r is the maximum per capita growth rate for a population.
Density Dependant
Population depends on the density of a species
Density Independent
The population does not depend on the density of a species
Density Dependant EX
Sea Lice depend on the density of fish population to feed on
