- Parasite - Unicellular flagellated (4 anterior and 1 posterior) Prozoan.

Complication of Trichomonas vaginalis.
A
Increases the risk of :
1. HIV (damage of vaginal mucosa).
2. Bacterial Vaginosis.
3. Cervical Cancer.
4. Pelvic Inflammatory Disease.
5. Pregnancy-Related Complications (Pre-Term Delivery).

Clinical Presentation of Trichomonas Vaginalis.
A
- 50% Asymptomatic.
- Symptomatic : Vaginal Discharge (Fishy Smelling Frothy Yellow-Green), Itching, Dysuria, Dyspareunia, Balanitis (Glans Penis Inflammation).

Investigations of Trichomonas vaginalis.
A
- Cervix Examination : Strawberry Cervix (Colitis Macularis) - Cervicitis (tiny haemorrhages on surface).
- Vaginal pH : above 4.5 (like Bacterial Vaginosis).
- Diagnosis : Charcoal Swab with MC&S - Posterior Fornix of Vagina > Self-Taken Vulvovaginal Swab : Women; Urethral Swab/1st Catch Urine : Men.

- Metronidazole.
