What is the feminist view on sexuality?
They are concerned with how women are portrayed in the media through their sexuality

They argue that sexuality identity is more complex than other aspects of identity. This can be seen through Reiss’1961 study, he found that young male prostitutes regarded themselves as heterosexual, despite having sex with men for money, and they actively despised the men as a way of neutralising their behaviour
What is Plummer (1996) view on sexuality?
They believe it as a homosexual career where a male who has accepted the label of homosexuality will seek out other and join a subculture in which stereotypical homosexual characteristics become the norm
What is Rich (1980) view on sexuality?
They argue that women’s sexuality is oppressed by men in patriarchal society, through institutions such as marriage, through sexual violence and rape and through the sexual objectification of women. Women otherwise might turn to lesbian relationships

- Section 28 of the local government 1988 stated that a local authority shall not intentionally promote homosexuality or publish material with the intention of promoting homosexuality or promote the teaching in schools of the acceptability of homosexuality as a pretended family relationship impacting how sexuality was taught in schools but it was repealed in 2003
- Relationship education had to be taught in primary and secondary schools from September 2020

They showed that different working environments impacted on the ease with which individuals can be open about their sexuality or whether they should conceal it

- Gay people today are openly par of all aspects of society. For example, there were 45 openly gay MPs elected in 2019
- By the 1970s, a distinct gay subculture had emerged in British culture, focused on leisure and consumption - gay bars, clubs and restaurants targeted the pink pound or the spending power of gay professional
- In cities, such as London, Brighton and Manchester, gay pride marches sought to increase the visibility and social acceptance of gay people
