Meiosis
A type of cell division that results in four daughter cells each with half the number of chromosomes from the parent cell
Crossover and recombination
exchange of genetic material between homologous chromosomes that results in recombinant chromosomes
Gametes
Female eggs and male sperm cells
Fertilization
The action or process of fertilizing an egg forming a zygote
Sequence of reproduction
Meiosis to make gametes-haploid, fertilization in oviduct, zygote is formed-diploid, implantation of zygote in uterus, mitosis for baby to grow bigger, placenta forms-site of diffusion for nutrients and wastes between mother and baby but the bloods do not mix, cell differentiation/cell specialization to form body parts, more mitosis and birth
Zygote
A diploid cell resulting from the fusion of two haploid cells
Embryo
An unborn or unmatched offspring
Fetus
Unborn offspring most commonly in a human after eight weeks after conception
Menstrual cycle
When a female that has hit puberty begins to shed their uterine lining usually once a month
Ovulation
When an egg is matured in the ovary and release to the Fallopian tube
Estrogen and progesterone
Two female sex hormones
Testosterone
Make sex hormone
