What is the defence to the offence of indecent exposure?
The person proves that they had reasonable grounds for believing they would not be seen.
What are the initial actions at a scene of serious assault?
Freeze, control, preserve.
Instruct scene to be cleared of people
Instruct victim not to: Wash Change clothes Use unnecessary medical aids Change appearance (makeup, hair) Go to toilet
Record anything victim can recall about offender and vehicle used
What are the guidelines for dealing with victims of sexual offences?
CALMTEA
C - conduct your dealing with victim in a sensitive manner
A - accept they are telling the truth
L - listen to what they tell you, give them opportunity to tell account in their own words
M - medical attention, establish if they need it
T - treat them courteously
E - explain the process you are following and why
A - advise of local counselling services when relevant
What actions (or lack of) do not constitute consent?
Just because they offer no physical resistance
If he/ she allows it because of force applied or threat or fear of force
If a person is asleep/ unconscious
If affected by drugs alcohol that they cannot consent
If mistaken about who the other person is
If affected by intellectual, mental, or physical condition or impairment so they cannot consent or refuse to consent
If they are mistaken about its nature or quality
