Is the age or stage where the individual is able to reproduce (puberty)

What hormones are present in sexual maturation?

Follicle Stimulating Hormone (FSH)
Lutenising Hormone (LH)
Adrenocorticotropic Hormone

What does Follicle Stimulating Hormone do?
A
- From the brain to the ovaries.
- Acts on ovaries- releases oestrogen- main female hormone, effects cells, part of the menstrual cycle, responsible for female secondary sex characteristics (curves (hips))
-Acts on testes- releases sperm

What does Lutenising Hormone do?
A
Ovaries -short, sharp burst (follicle) is released, releases progesterone
Testes -releases testosterone, male sex characteristics

What does Adrenocorticotropic Hormone do?
A
Acts on adrenal glands (mid drift) (prepares body for fight or flight) Produces androgen (cause m&f) -male sex characteristics (bigger, stronger)
