What does Follicle Stimulating Hormone do?

A
  • From the brain to the ovaries.
  • Acts on ovaries- releases oestrogen- main female hormone, effects cells, part of the menstrual cycle, responsible for female secondary sex characteristics (curves (hips))

-Acts on testes- releases sperm

What does Lutenising Hormone do?

A

Ovaries -short, sharp burst (follicle) is released, releases progesterone

Testes -releases testosterone, male sex characteristics

A
Acts on adrenal glands (mid drift) (prepares body for fight or flight)
Produces androgen (cause m&f) -male sex characteristics (bigger, stronger)
