what is the management for syphilis?
IM benpen
what does primary syphilis consist of?
chancre, lymphadenopathy
what does secondary syphilis consist of?
(weeks/months later)
systemic sx
condylomata lata (pink or grey discs)
what are the risk factors for thrush?
- DM
- broad spec abx
- AIDS/immunosuppression/steroids
what is the management for thrush?
oral fluconazole
topical cream
pessary
clotrimazole
how is BV diagnosed?
whiff test +
microscopy
increased pH (4.5+)
what is the management for BV?
PO metronidazole 5-7days
what is the management for chlamydia?
doxycycline 7 days
azithromycin 3 days if preg
how does trichomonas present?
yellow green, frothy discharge
signs o/e - strawberry cervix
what causes trichomonas?
flagella protozoa parasite
how is trichomonas diagnosed?
wet microscopy - shows polymorphonuclear leukocytes
what is the management for trichomonas?
PO metro 5-7days / one off
