Q

Sexual behavior DOG (male + female). discuss intercourse behavior as well . also dismount behavior

A

Pheromones present in the urine + secretions of anal glands and vulva

Soliciting behavior then run away (female)
Mounting (male), female will allow

Male penis cannot withdraw. copulatory lock.
rear to rear dismount

Female vagina contract while penis eject prostatic fluid

Q

Sexual behavior (Ungulates). discuss male + female from prior to intercourse

A

(Horse)
Male:
- female in estrus release pheromone that is sensed by male nasopalatine duct. elicit freshmen response
-erection, mounting, intromission, ejaculation

Female

  • Urine
  • Mounting, female then male
  • firm standing for mounting

Q

For male. what is response to absence of testosterone ? when given androgen? what is role of androgen?

A

Male still have sexual behavior in absence of testosterone. When given androgens, male behavior increases in freq.

Q

What is name of stage when NON primate female expresses sexual behavior? what does this stage identify

A

16
Q

How does the vagina turn on/off sexual interest in male.

A

increased levels of PROGESTERONE can decrease sex-attractant properties of vaginal secretions.

Note that some males are oblivious to changes in odor

17
Q

What are males attracted to in female? vice versa

A

Testosterone and estrogen

18
Q

Postmenopausal women do not usual suffer complete loss of libido. Define libido

A

Libido is proceptivity and receptivity of female.

19
Q

Define coital

A

Sexual intercourse

20
Q

Give 4 stages of Human Sexual response

A
  1. excitement
  2. Plateau
  3. orgasm
  4. resolution (cum)
21
Q

Explain the neuronal response in flaccid state. State whole pathway of each NT

A

Sympathetic Adrenergic neurons release NE , increases IP3&raquo_space; Ca+ , increase SM contraction/ constriction.

Ca binds calmodulin, cross bridge formation between actin & myosin = tension

22
Q

Explain the neuronal response in erect state. State whole pathway of each NT

A

parasymp. Cholinergic neuron release Ach= inhibit sympt. nueron. + increase cAMP, decrease Ca = no more tension

NO releasing neurons:
promote synthesis of cGMP 2nd messenger which promote uptake of Ca+ from cytosol (=decrease Ca).

23
Q

Define erectile tissues + arteries in male

A

Corpus cavernosa , corpus spongiosum, smooth muscle layers of the arteriolar and arterial walls

24
Q

Define sinusoid? How & why does play role in erection

A

The sinusoid is the cancerous tissue that fills with blood. fills from compression of venous plexuses and contraction of ischiocavernosus tissue.

=increase pressure and rigidity

25
Q

Stages of ejaculation.

activation, neuronal, response

A

Emission:
stimulation of penis> sympathetic innversation= contraction of epididymis, vas deferens, bladder neck
=release SV into urthera

Ejaculation:
SV enter urethra> parasympathetic> activation of rhythmic contraction> blulbaurthra muscle, ischiocavernosus, pelvic floor muscle
= release SV out of urethra.
