Stroke, VTE, endometrial cancer, breast cancer, ovarian cancer, CHD (if on combined HRT >10 years after menopause)
How long before surgery should HERt be stopped?
4 - 6 weeks

Estradiol, estrone, Estriol
Synthetic estrogens
ethinylestradiol, mestranol
What are vasomotor symtpoms?
Hot flushes, night sweats
If a women without a uterus, what hormone should be offered for HRT>
Oestrogen alone continuously
Peri-menopausal women or those <12 months after last period cannot have what form of HRT
oestrogen and progesterone
What hormone reduced the risk of endometrial cancer?
Progesterone
First line therapy for Mennorrhagia
Levonorgesterol releasing IUD
Ethinylestradiol should be cautioned when BMI is?
30 (avoid if 35)
If a patient is >35 and smokes can they have ethinylestradiol?
no - BNF advises to avoid
If vommiting occurs within 2 hours of taking POC what should the patient do?
Take another tablet asap. If not taken within 3 hours of the normal time additional precautions should be taken and for 2 days after recovery
If a progesterone pil is not taken and its 3 hours past usual adminsitration time, what is the issue?
Contraceptive control may be lost
How long after birth can POC be restarted?
21 days
