- The air rises very rapidly in a cold front, causing friction, this friction causes the water vapor to carry an electric charge
- When enough charge accumulates, lighting occurs

A
- Small, intense weather systems that produce heavy rain, winds, lightning and thunder
- Generally Occur along cold fronts

A
- Violent rotating column of air that contacts the ground
- Occur 1% of all thunderstorms
- Air becomes visible b/c of the debris and the after vapor the tornado picks up

A
- Large rotating, low pressure storm that forms over warm tropical water
- forms when winds traveling in opposite directions collide
