Rural settlements
develop in different ways to meet the different needs of their inhabitants. In areas where resources are plentiful and there are no threats from neighbouring societies, settlements can spread out with the houses being dispersed or isolated.
Nucleated settlements develop in areas where:

A central feature draws people to settle
There is no need for protection from neighbours
Linear settlement

Heavy industry generally manufactures large, heavy articles and materials in bulk

Cheap land as it develops horizontally and covers large areas of land

Usually larger then inner city houses,usually have gardens

Not as hectic and a lot less pollution than heavy industry
