How does email work with host gator?
Email sent to your host gator account is received by the same server that hosts your website. You can use any email client to log onto the server and received, manage and send email.
What type of email software’s are supported by host gator?
Outlook, euDora, Thunderbird, Mac, iPad, phone.
What is POP?
POP, or post office protocol, allows you to download copies of your email messages to your personal computer. Any changes you make will not be visible to other users or computers accessing email account since you are the only making changes to local copies. Consequently messages sent moved or deleted from the computer using POP can only be viewed on that individuals computers folders
Who is pop recommended for?
PO P is recommended for, users who preferred to keep backup of all the messages, users who have very limited time to be online but need to read their emails, users who need to archive permanent copies of their emails.
What is IMAP?
IMAP, or Internet message access protocol, allows you to read emails as they appear on the hosting server. All messages and changes you make (delete, reply, forward, move) are seen by anyone else who logs into webmail or IMAP. Depending on program configuration, messages me temporarily saved for off-line viewing.
Who is IMAP recommended for?
Users who connect to email accounts for many computers, users with mobile devices with Internet access, such a smart phone or tablet. multiple users who need access to the same email account, users who wish to always have their messages, including send messages and message folders, saved on the server.
