Abstract
Not realistic or life –like, but instead using colours, shapes , textures, sounds and other means to achieve an effect.
Apron
The area of the stage nearest the audience, which projects in front of the curtain.
Backdrop
A large painted cloth hung as part of the scenery.
Box set
A set which has three complete walls, often used in naturalistic set designs.
Drapes
Curtains or other hanging fabrics.
Flat
A piece of scenery mounted onto a frame

This is a bird’s eye view of the set showing the scale of the set

Props
Small items that actors can carry onstage.
Revolve
A large turntable device that can be turned to reveal a different setting
Set dressing
Items on the set that are not used as props, but create detail and interests
E.g frame paintings
Sight lines
The line of the where the audience can and can’t see
Truck
A platform on wheels upon which scenery can be mounted and moved
