What is the definition of heart failure?

A

State in which the heart fails to maintain an adequate circulation for the needs of the body despite an adequate filling pressure

A

Ischaemic heart disease (atherosclerosis of arteries)

What is the LV end systolic volume and end diastolic volume?

What does this mean the ejection fraction is?

A

LV end diastolic = 150ml
LV end systolic = 75ml
This means the ejection fraction is 50%
(ie not all the blood is pumped out the left ventricle)
