What is the national tariff?
A set fee for services charged by service providers. Regardless of the provider they are all paid the same.

What is the role of NHS England?
Commissioning training
Authorises commissioning groups
Does some commissioning of specialist services itself
What is the role of the clinical commissioning groups (CCGs)?
- in charge of 65% of budget
- commissions services
- place contracts with private sector
- made of doctors, nurses, patients and members of public health (others too)
What benefits do high performing trusts get?
They become foundation trusts which gives them greater financial and managerial stability
What are the roles of a medical director?
- Responsible for quality of medical care
- Work with HR
- Communicates between medical staff and board (and vice versa)
- Leadership for the medical staff
- Disciplinary processes
- Leads on organisations clinical policies and standards
- Approves job descriptions and is on interview panels
What is the role of a clinical director?
Introduction of new doctors lead and manage a speciality medical education and training hours of work, tasks and responsibilities clinical audits
