Give some of the female pelvic organs
ovary, uterine/Fallopian tubes uterus and cervix vagina ureter, bladder and urethra rectum caecum, appendix, parts of sigmoid colon and ileum vessels, nerves and lymphatics
Where does the parietal peritoneum extend to inferiorly?
into the pelvic cavity, but it does not reach the pelvic floor
What is the broad ligament?
peritoneal fold that attaches the uterus, fallopian tubes, and ovaries to the pelvis
What is the cervix?
the neck of the uterus
a fibro-muscular ‘cylinder’ with internal os and external os
What are the 2 muscle in the deep perineal pouch that are present in males and females?
external urethral sphincter
deep transverse perineal muscles
What are the 2 muscle in the deep perineal pouch that are only present in females?
compressor urethrae
sphincter urethrovaginalis
What do the vestibular bulbs surround?
the low vestibule and the vagina
Where is pain from the pelvic viscera referred to?
suprapubic region and perineum
