What is an extradural haemorrhage?
Collection of blood in the space between the skull and the outer protective lining that covers the brain
What happens in an extradural haemorrhage?
As blood accumulates, it takes up space and raises the intercranial pressure. This eventually compromises centres controlling respiration and heart function and death follows
What happens in a subdural haemorrhage?
Blood vessels are damaged and blood accumulates in the subdural space
