What is Ankylosing Spondylitis?
Chronic inflammatory disease of the spine and sacro-illiac joints which can lead to eventual fusion of joints
Who gets ankylosing spondylitis?
Males betweem the ages of 20-40
What test can measure spine flexion?
Schober’s test
How do you preform Shobbers test?
Measure 10 cm above and 5cm below the posterior superior illiac crest.
When they bend over this should extend to 20cm

Uveitis
Aortitis
Pulmonary fibrosis

What is amyloidosis?
deposistion of abnormal protiens around the body

Sclerosis and fusion of sacroilliac joints
Bony spurs from the vertable bodies known as syndesmophytes
Fusion of intervertebral discs resulting in bamboo spine
