Take 3 - lactate - bloods - urine (catheterise) Give 3 - Abx - Fluids - O2

what is sepsis?
A
systemic and dysregulated host response to infection
it is life threatening

Diagnostic criteria for sepsis?
A
patient must meet the clinical criteria for SIRS (2 or more of the following)
- fever, tachycardia, tachypnoea, leukocytosis, leukopenia, hyperglycaemia in the absence of DM, acutely altered mental status, suspicion of infection

What does SIRS stand for?
A
systemic inflammatory response syndrome

A
presence of pathogens in the blood leading to sepsis
