A

systemic and dysregulated host response to infection

Diagnostic criteria for sepsis?

A

patient must meet the clinical criteria for SIRS (2 or more of the following)
- fever, tachycardia, tachypnoea, leukocytosis, leukopenia, hyperglycaemia in the absence of DM, acutely altered mental status, suspicion of infection
