A

NICE traffic light scoring

18
Q

What is the immediate Mx plan for sus Sepsis?

A

Sepsis 6:

  1. Take: Blood culture
  2. Take: Lactate
  3. Take: Urine output (w catheter PRN)
  4. Give: Oxygen
  5. Give: IV/IO Fluid
  6. Give: IV/IO Abx
19
Q

What are kids particularly prone to when unwell?

Hypoglycaemia

20
Q

At what point should kids hypoglycaemia be corrected?

A

@ blood glucose under 3

21
Q

How should hypoglycaemia be treatment?

A

2ml / kg bolus of 10% dextrose

22
Q

What investigation will tell you which exact abx to use?

A

Blood cultures

23
Q

When should you consider stopping abx? (4 things)

A
  1. Low suspicion of inf
  2. Pt well
  3. Blood cultures negative @ 48 hrs
  4. 2x CRP results negative @ 48 hours
