Bacteraemia vs sepsis
bacteraemia is presence of bacteria in blood whereas sepsis is dysregulated host response to infection that leads to life-threatening organ dysfunction
Septic shock definition
Sepsis and BOTH of:
-persistent hypotension requiring vasopressors to maintain MAP =/>65mmHg AND,
-lactate greater than or equal to 2mmol/l
DESPITE adequate volume resus
