Seperating Mixtures Flashcards
Can Silver Chloride dissolve in water?
No Silver Chloride is insoluble so it cannot dissolve into water.
What if Filtration used for?
Filtration is used to separate an insoluble solid from a liquid
What materials are used for filtration
To do filtration we need a filtration funnel and filtration paper.
What is Crystallization
Crystallization is used to separate soluble solids from liquids
Can Sodium Chloride dissolve in water?
Yes, Sodium Chloride is a soluble solid so it can dissolve
What is an Aqueous Solution
An Aqueous Solution (AQ) is means that a certain soluble is dissolvable in water.
How do we use Crystallization
An example is that if put Sodium Chloride in water and leave it for a couple of days, the water will evaporate thus causing sodium chloride to become solid crystals.
What do we do if we want to speed up the process of
Crystallization?
If we want to speed up the process of Crystallization we can gently heat up the water to evaporate. However we must be very careful because heating can affect the chemical we are trying to Crystallize
