What are the types of officer discharges?
Honorable, general, other than honorable
Do officers dismissed pursuant to court martial receive a discharge certificate ?
No
What are the deadlines for submission of resignation?
Not more than 2 years, not less than 6 months prior to the resignation date
What are the methods of separation for commissioned and warrant officers?
Resignation, dismissal, revocation of commission, dripping from rolls, termination(retirement) and discharge for cause
How much time does an officer need at a CONUS and OCONUS duty station to request resignation?
1 year CONUS
2 years OCONUS
If a resignation request is cancelled, how long must the officer obligate service?
2 years
If an officer resigns, “for the good of the service” what discharge will they receive?
Other than honorable
How long is a separation physical good for?
1 year, not less than 60 days
A commanding officer or a superior in the chain of command may recommend revoking the commission of an officer who has (bank) years of continuous service as a coast guard commissioned officer
Fewer than 5 years
What happens to O1 thru O3 when passed over for a second time?
Be honorably discharged not later than 30 June of the promotion year in which the second failure occurs
What happens to O4 thru O5 passed over for the second time.
Should be mandatorily retired, or held at their current grade for 24 (O-4) or 26 (O-5) years
How many members are on a board of inquiry?

Who is authorized the second chance program?
Enlisted members serving in their first 4 years
What are the types of enlisted characterized discharges?
Honorable , General, other than honorable, bad conduct, dishonorable
Is a person being discharged for misconduct eligible for an honorable discharge?
Yes except involving illegal drugs or urinalysis tampering
