  • Measure out a known volume of acid (e.g. 50 ml using measuring cylinder or pipette) and place in conical flask.
  • Place conical flask on white tile under burette.
  • Fill burette with an alkali of known concentration.
  • Add an indicator to the acid (e.g. methyl orange or phenolphthalein).
  • Add alkali to acid drop by drop, swirling each time, until reaction reaches its end point (indicator changes colour).
