Explain a compound sentence.

A

Consists of two main clauses joined together by a co-ordinating junction. E.g I shivered and turned my collar up.

A

A sentence which contains only one main clause. Usually fast and simple e.g the boy ran fast.

A

They are words which join two parts of a sentence together so that neither part is more important than the other e.g and, but, or, nor, either, neither.

Give a definition with examples of minor sentences.

A

Minor sentences are those which, strictly speaking, are not sentences at all. They may lack a subject or a main verb but we still understand what is meant. E.g ‘Wish you were here’. Or ‘No parking.’
