Compound Sentence

A

Contains TWO OR MORE MAIN CLAUSES

  • Main clauses are usually connected by a COMMA and a COORDINATING CONJUCTION
    - and, but, or, nor, yet, for, so
  • Main clauses can also be connected by a semi-colon
  • Main clauses can be connected by a semi-colon and a conductive adverb (however, therefore, nevertheless, because, if, although)

Ex. Many popular bands play rock and roll, but others play pop music.
