What is a compound sentence?
Has 2 or more clauses joined to the main clause by conjunctions.
What is a complex sentence?
Has 2 or more clauses, one of which is subordinate.
What is a minor sentence?
Has some missing elements such as subject/ verb making it ungrammaticaly correct.
What is a declarative?
A statement that gives information. Subject comes before verb.
What is an imperative?
A command.
Subject usually left out and verb in its bare form.
What is a left branching sentence?
Has a subordinate clause or clauses before main clause.
What is a triad?
3 adjectives / words to describe in a row.
What is syntactic parallelism?
A rhetorical device that consists of repetition among adjacent sentences/ clauses.
What is a simple sentence?
Contains one main clause.
What is a compound complex sentence?
Contains 2 or more main clauses and one or more subordinate clauses.
