sensory systems Flashcards
Sensory axons from caudal body project to
Gracile nucleus which is medial in medulla
Axons from trunk and forelimb project to
Cuneate nucleus, located lateral in medulla
Trigeminal afferents project to
Trigeminal nuclei located most laterally in medulla
After the arcuate fibers leave the gracile and cuneate nuclei and cross midline to collect in the
Medial lemniscus, the leg is represented laterally and the trunk/forelimb medially
When Trigeminal fine touch projections cross the midline they join the
Medial lemniscus and comprise its most medial part
VCM receives
Trigeminal projections and is medial to VCM
VCL recieves
Trunk/forelimb and is represented medially, the hindlimb laterally
Pain, temp and crude touch info from the forelimb, trunk and hindlimb travels in the
Spinothalamic tract which is joined by the trigeminothalamic tract carrying similar info from the face
