Sensory, Relay And Motor Neruons Flashcards
What are the three types of neuronal?
And what are their functions
Sensory neurone- convey Infomation from senses produced from stimuli towards the brain
Motor neurone- convey instructions to physical operations - to effectors e.g muscle movement
Relay- connect different parts of CNS
What is the process of synaptic transmission
During synaptic transmission the action potential triggers synaptic vesicles of the pre synaptic neurone to release neurotransmitters. These then diffuse across the synaptic gap and bind to complementary receptor sites on the post synaptic neurone.
This can be excitatory or inhibitory meaning make a nerve impulse more likely to be triggered or less likely to be triggered
